When you start evaluating unmanned reception, the options usually come down to four — touch kiosk / chatbot SaaS / industrial guide robot / AI reception agent (neurosam.AI Agent-R). Each excels in a different area. To help you make the right call for your site, we compared them across the criteria that matter most.

What Each Option Brings

Touch Kiosk

A one-way, click-through menu interface. Efficient for standardized tasks like ordering or ticketing, but accessibility for older adults, foreign visitors, and the visually impaired is weak, and adding a new task means redeveloping the screen. As of January 28, 2026, existing kiosks are also subject to the Korea Disability Discrimination Act’s accessibility requirements, creating the added burden of bolting on voice and accessibility features separately.

Chatbot SaaS

Text-based reception on the web and in apps. Easy and inexpensive to deploy, but it can’t serve physical sites and offers no multimodal (face/voice) interaction. A good fit for online customer-support assistance, but not for physical spaces like stores, lobbies, or service desks.

Industrial Guide Robot

Capable of multimodal interaction, but the cost to deploy is very high (tens of millions to hundreds of millions of won per unit), and because the software is tied to the hardware, domain customization and updates are slow. Suitable for select large-scale facilities.

neurosam.AI Agent-R — AI Reception Agent

A domain persona platform that integrates face recognition (Vision AI) + voice conversation (STT/TTS) + an LLM/RAG persona. Key differentiators:

  • Voice, multilingual support, and accessibility met by design → automatic compliance with the Korea Disability Discrimination Act
  • Integrated 24/7 AI phone reception → in-person reception plus after-hours calls in a single solution
  • Just swap the per-site system prompt and RAG knowledge base → rapid deployment to new domains
  • Government-recognized AI supplier (MSIT · NIPA, 2026) → an independently vetted vendor

When Is Agent-R the Right Fit?

  • When you need reception in a physical space that welcomes people — offices, hotels, stores, hospitals, public institutions
  • When staffing for night, holiday, or multilingual reception is hard to secure
  • When you need to meet the mandated kiosk accessibility requirements under the Korea Disability Discrimination Act
  • When an industrial robot is too much but a simple kiosk isn’t enough
